Statement by Iceland
Mr. President,
Iceland welcomes the delegation of Estonia and its national report.
In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:
- Address the gender pay gap with comprehensive measures targeting unequal distribution of care responsibilities, to facilitate equal participation in the work force.
- Amend article 141 of the Penal Code to introduce a consent-based definition of rape, that applies to all persons without discrimination.
- Implement a ban on the use of contraceptive measures on persons with disabilities without their informed consent.
- Ban conversion therapy.
- Reform the legal gender recognition process basing it on self-determination and simple administrative procedures [free from intrusive requirements].
- Extend the scope of anti-discrimination legislation to ensure protection for all persons of diverse SOGIESC.
We wish Estonia all success for its review.
I thank you.
