Statement by Iceland

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Estonia and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Address the gender pay gap with comprehensive measures targeting unequal distribution of care responsibilities, to facilitate equal participation in the work force.
2. Amend article 141 of the Penal Code to introduce a consent-based definition of rape, that applies to all persons without discrimination.
3. Implement a ban on the use of contraceptive measures on persons with disabilities without their informed consent.
4. Ban conversion therapy.
5. Reform the legal gender recognition process basing it on self-determination and simple administrative procedures [free from intrusive requirements].
6. Extend the scope of anti-discrimination legislation to ensure protection for all persons of diverse SOGIESC.
