Statement by Iceland

Mr. President,

Iceland welcomes the delegation of Belgium and its national report.

In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:

1. Eliminate all exceptions to the legal minimum age for marriage of 18 years.
2. Implement a ban on the use of contraceptive measures on persons with disabilities without their informed consent.
3. Remove all legal, administrative and practical barriers to accessing safe abortion services, including references to mandatory waiting period.
4. Amend the Civil Code to prohibit domestic violence against children.
5. Ensure universal access to CSE in and out of school settings.
6. Guarantee universal gender-affirming care for persons of diverse SOGIESC, including mental health services.

We wish Belgium all success for its review.
