Statement by Iceland (no 75 of 79)
Mr. President,
Iceland welcomes the delegation of Croatia and its national report.
In the spirit of constructive engagement, Iceland recommends the following:
- Fully implement the Istanbul Convention through national laws and policies, ensuring a gender-sensitive approach throughout
- Ensure sustainable funding for specialized, inclusive and accessible shelters for victims and survivors of gender-based violence.
- Collect and publish disaggregated data on all forms of gender-based violence to guide evidence-based policy and response.
- Remove barriers and ensure universal access to abortion.
- Respect intersex children’s right to self-determination and ban medically unnecessary surgeries.
- Ban conversion therapy.
I wish Croatia all success for its review.
I thank you.
